Thor is a movie describing how Thor saved his father and the earth from Loki his half brother who became filled with pride. I am not recommending the movie or saying that the story of Thor is a good story however I wanted to point out some similarities between Thor and the story of Jesus and why the story of Jesus is so much more amazing than the story of Thor
1. Both Thor and Jesus come to earth. However Jesus chooses to and Thor is cast to the earth more like Satan was than Jesus
2. Both Thor and Jesus choose to sacrifice themselves to save those they love. The difference is that Thor simply wanted to save his friends, Jesus however came and died for everyone even those who hate Him.
3. Both rise from the dead. The difference is that Thor is raised by Odin. Jesus however conquers death on His own.
4. Both ascend to heaven after promising to come back for their bride. The difference is again that Thor has to have help but Jesus does this on His own
5. Both have a bridge between their world and Earth. Thor has a rainbow colored bridge, God uses a rainbow as a symbol not to destroy the earth by flood but the bridge between earth and Heaven is grace and that can never be destroyed.
6. Both miss the ones they left behind. Thor misses his woman, Jesus is building mansion for His bride, the church,
7. Both use a weapon that only they could possess. Thor uses a destructive hammer. But Jesus uses love to conquer sin and grant us a home in Heaven.
